Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Serves 4 dozen cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsifted all purpose flour
  • 1 cup quick cooking oatmeal
  • 2 tbsp. unsweetened cocoa
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ¾ cup salted butter
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 - 6oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate pieces
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (moderate). Grease cookie sheets.

    1. Stir together flour, oatmeal, cocoa, and baking soda in bowl.

    2. Beat together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl until fluffy.

    3. Beat in egg and vanilla.

    4. Stir in flour mixture until well blended

    5. Fold in chocolate pieces and walnuts.

    6. Drop batter by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets, leaving 2 inches between cookies.

    7. Bake in prepared oven (350 degrees) for 10 to 12 minutes or until lightly browned on top.

    8. Let stand on sheets for 3 minutes.

    9. Remove cookies to rack to cool
